Nation and Ancient Chinese History

Introduction

       "Nation and Ancient Chinese History" by Fu Sinian collection of his research papers on ancient Chinese history prior to the Qin dynasty. It compiles five representative essays: The East-West Dichotomy of Yi and Xia, Jiang Yuan, Eastern Enfeoffments of Zhou and the Yin Remnants, The Theory of Greater and Lesser Eastern Territories, and On the So-called Five Ranks of Nobility. These interconnected essays systematically address issues long debated in historiography, including the origins, early development, and orthodox transmission of Chinese civilization24. At the time of their publication, these works represented significant breakthroughs through their innovative approaches and groundbreaking insights, providing a systematic framework for understanding China’s ancient history.

       HE Aixiang (1981—), a graduate of both the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures at Xiamen University and the College of Sociology and History at Fujian Normal University, holds a Master's degree in English Language and Literature and a Ph.D. in History. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor at the School of Foreign Languages, Fuzhou University, and a Council Member of the Fujian Translators Association.
